Happy weekend, dearies! I am so ridiculously happy for the weekend – I am planning on filling these cold days with hot baths, good music, chai lattes, chats on the phone with friends, and a visit to the in-laws to show off Bixby in his costume (hint: rawr!). Things are off to a good start so far, with a mug of hot tea + Pinterest. Here are a few things I have my eye on:

1. The Frankie Calendar for 2012 is full of amazing art. Via Seventy Tree.
2. & 3. The home of Finnish photographer/designer Riikka Kantinkoski is exactly what I am craving in my own home right now. Featured on decor8 and pinned by me. :)
4. The most beautiful leather mouse pads.
5. I’ve been listening to a lot of Amy Seeley again; something about the weather turning cold is perfect for her quiet, haunting melodies.
6. This hand-quilted bedding is so beautiful. Via Tracey Galloway.

And because I thought we could use a little soundtrack to today’s post, and to tempt you further with Ms. Seeley’s music, here is one of her most recent works for your listening pleasure:

Enjoy your weekend! xoxo Laura

Happy Wednesday to you! Today feels like summer here for the first time this year, which is making Wednesday feel not quite so Wednesday-ish, do you know what I mean? This morning I was up early (um okay, when am I not up early? Hello, I have an 11 month old!) and the light had a golden tinge as it filtered through the leaves of the trees on our street, the air was fresh and fragrant, but a little heavy with that damp summer heat. Bix and I got out for a long walk down our favorite trail, and now while he enjoys a little siesta I am enjoying some time to myself to blog, read magazines, and browse Pinterest, which has become a total obsession of mine.

I have found Pinterest to be a great way to keep inspiration boards of material I find online, like I’ve done in the “Interior Spaces and Ideas I Love” board pictured above. But what has been a pleasant surprise to me (now months-deep into my pinning obsession) is how useful it is for gathering ideas for specific events, gifts, wish lists, and projects. And not only can I pin my own finds, but when I was looking for inspiration for Bixby’s first birthday party (coming up on June 29!!) the first thing I did was search Pinterest…

…And lo and behold, I found all sorts of creative party ideas (see my picks here), everything from birthday cake alternatives to DIY invites, themes, and photography ideas. And I love that searching Pinterest often leads me to blogs and sites that I didn’t know about before – fun! Plus, I recently discovered that there is a Lolalina page on Pinterest:

I found that when Ez mentioned that Pinterest keeps a feed of all of the images pinned from a particular source – so anytime one of you dear readers pins something from my blog to Pinterest, it gets cataloged. Pretty neat, right? If you have your own blog and want to see what is catching your readers eyes, this post will help you locate your site’s page.

Happy pinning, friends! And p.s., if you have any creative ideas for Bixby’s first birthday party, please send them my way! Thanks :) xo Laura

Happy weekend! Yes, it is finally that time! Are you psyched to get your weekend started? Do you have anything fun planned? I came across a few wonderful things this week that I wasn’t able to squeeze into regular posts, so I thought I would round ‘em up here: 10 favorites to enjoy on your Friday afternoon tea break or with your Saturday morning coffee :-)

  1. The super stylish Dutch home of mom & designer Joscha on Bloesem Kids (above).
  2. I’ve found my ideal bicycle, and they make the cutest accessories to go with it.
  3. I need this gorgeous fringed tablecloth. Not want. Neeeeeeeeed.
  4. An inspiring quarterly zine.
  5. These fun modern kids blocks are just waiting to be made.
  6. Jordan took her family gallivanting through fields of tulips – it looks unreal!
  7. I want to reread this book this summer.
  8. I lovey love love all of Jeska’s art picks.
  9. Jess LC has launched a new line of bags, and they are instant classics.
  10. This just in: Grrrr.

Have a swell weekend! xo Laura

Hello there sweet friends! Thank you so, so much for sticking by me as I muddle my way through these past few weeks, it’s been a mixed bag of fun day trips with my Mom (hello, knitting store!) and sickies (hello, food poisoning!), so I haven’t been able to post nearly as much as I thought I would. But ah well, that’s life, right? How have you been? Are you feeling Spring where you are yet? Today the sun was shining brilliantly here, so I thought it would be fun to round up 7 ideas to add a little style and DIY craftiness to your home and wardrobe this spring. Sound good? Good! Let’s go grab ourselves a cup of something delicious to sip and come right back and I will share my seven things :)

1. A black & white gingham tablecloth looks current when paired with mod chairs like these; featured in Country Living, photographed by William Waldron.

2. Wide leg jeans and a floaty floral top feel just right anchored by platform heels and an arty necklace; from Anthropologie.

3. Looking for a project that requires very little effort and makes you look like a rock star in the kitchen? Why don’t you whip up a few spring compound butters like these created by Ashley English for her Small Measures column on Design*Sponge?

4. For a bit more of a challenge, I would love to try my hand at these stunning botanical eggs featured in Country Living – blogger Sonia Bauer created them using her own vegetable-based dyes and cuttings from her garden. Photographed by Dana Gallagher.

5. I am a total sucker for nice packaging, so I would adore this simple line of products based on looks alone – the fact that Common Good is biodegradable, dye and fragrance free, and made in Brooklyn seals the deal. Found on Oh Joy!

6. I love checking out Jenna’s Picks on J.Crew, don’t you? This time she hit on exactly what I am craving: long weekend mornings with my boys in soft, comfortable clothes…and maybe a little neon pink polish for me :)

7. I saved the sweetest for last: Lobster & Swan’s gorgeously drippy cake with her own cake buntings – just one more reason I wish I lived around the corner from Jeska.

Well, that is all! I hope you found a little snippet of inspiration or a new idea to try :) Happy Wednesday! xo Laura

Happy weekend!! Are you excited to begin your days off? What will you be up to? I am feeling inspired to play around at home, decorating-wise; something I haven’t been able to make much any time for since Bixby was born. On my list? First of all, clearing off my desk. Which brings me to this image staring at me above, which is pretty much my ideal desk/workspace scenario: BIG raw wood desk, super-cushy and plush armchair, fancy gold coffee cup, and plenty of room behind the desk area for a pin board, magazine storage, filing, etc. Sigh. I have been asked to photograph my workspace for a blog feature (I’ll let you know when it happens), and I SO wish I could afford to make the changes I want to make. But alas, this is reality and I will be working with what I’ve got!

Also on my list this weekend: Creating an inspiration board, hanging artwork that has been sitting around for far too long, and putting up a few strings of fairy lights. I keep coming back to this art wall featured on Design*Sponge – the arrangement is inspiring me to get to work on my own art wall! Plus I love the pet portraits and I am dying to have one done of Ziggy :)

And talk about inspiration! I have been drooling all over this dining room, featured on Melissa Loves. It’s funny, because I wouldn’t pick out super modern chairs like these on my own  – but put them in this very traditional dining room with the crystal chandelier, the bust, farmhouse table, and dark portrait and I get shivers it’s so good! This really makes me want to add something to my own dining room. Something…dramatic. Hm. I’ll have to work on that :)

So…what’s on your weekend list? Do you have to-do’s a mile long or will you be able to play? What do you really want to do this weekend?
