Fresh + Clean Finds for a Well-Kept Home

Hello my lovelies! I came across this gorgeous space from Light Locations in the UK, and it immediately got me daydreaming about spring. Spring cleaning, refreshing the house, opening up the windows and giving everything a good scrubbing, and of course, planting the garden. It is still very much winter here in Rhode Island, so every daydream of spring gives me a bit of hope that it really will be coming around the corner.

Ah, the sunlight streaming through freshly cleaned windows, lovely scrubbed wood counters, and a nicely outfitted laundry room all conspire to make you think that cleaning up wouldn’t actually be so bad if you had nice tools and whatnot. So, I thought I would roundup a few finds of my own to complete the picture:

Clockwise from top left: 1. Baskets for storage shown in Light Locations | 2. Zinc laundry bin for delicates | 3. Dust pan + brush | 4. Cleaning bucket | 5. Washing powder box | 6. Cafe stripe ironing board cover

I think that having attractive (and well-made) cleaning tools and supplies is one of life’s little pleasures. Why peer into your linen cupboard or cleaning closet and face a tumble of ugly plastic jugs and yucky old brushes? Just like planning the spring garden (and placing that massive, slightly crazed seed catalog order…), organizing and freshening up your cleaning arsenal is an easy way to get prepared for spring, without having to do much at all.

What about you? Do you think it’s worth it to purchase well made cleaning (or garden) tools, or is this something you save on? I am the first to admit my own “cleaning cupboard” is, at the moment, a complete disaster. But I aim to gradually replace old, worn, and just plain ugly items over time, so that our regular cleaning routines can be just a bit more pleasant. xo Laura

I love everything that is organized and clean. Clutter (even inside cupboards) overwhelms me. Even if it’s about our cleaning supplies why not take some time and make it look pretty? I agree with you, it will make necessary chores a little more pleasant. Love your blog!!

It looks wonderful & a dream at the same time. With the little time I have off, I feel good about doing the basic cleaning each week. Would love a deeper clean, and not have to spend so much time cleaning on my days off. Any ideas? We probably all feel this.
