It’s midwinter here in New England, and the landscape outside my window is looking a bit bleak, which has left me craving color and print like never before. So I was thrilled when I came across the portfolio of photographer Rachel Whiting: it’s positively bursting with color! Come along, let’s have a peek…
The patchwork floral print wall may be what first caught my eye, but it’s that hot pink rug on the floor that really set my heart racing. It looks like one from the color reform series at ABC home – overdyed to give that super-saturated hue. I’d love to splurge on a small one to wake up my living room!
Layering colorful Liberty floral prints is a quick way to bring a bit of cheer to a room, and I find myself especially drawn to this look when outdoors is dreary and bare. It’s like bringing a blooming garden indoors.
Feeling a bit color-shy? Why not treat yourself to an armful of fresh blooms? Cutting and arranging them is quite relaxing, and examining nature’s color palette is a great way to spark ideas for your interior. Don’t feel limited to vases – some of the most charming vessels are tea cups, sugar bowls, and pitchers, so raid those kitchen cabinets!
I wish I could jump into the pictures above, with their overstuffed armchairs, painted furniture, and cozy quilts, don’t you? You can go drool more at Rachel Whiting’s portfolio site. Enjoy the rest of your day, my dears! xo Laura
