Happy new week, my dears! I’ve been meaning to take good pictures of Bixby’s new room, but since I keep putting it off I decided now was the time to at least share a small peek. So, below you will find a little snapshot of the new chalkboard wall we painted along with a super easy book banner project. I hope you like it, and I promise to share more soon.
Bixby loves his chalkboard wall so much, I’m so glad we decided to do it. For the banner, Ben suggested the phrase “Eat, Play, Love” and I thought that was adorable, so that’s what I ended up going with. The instructions came from Simple As That, and it was as easy as pie.
First, find an old book you don’t mind cutting into (that was the hardest part! I ended up using one I love, but have two copies of), and decide what you want your banner to say. Next, use an alphabet stencil to figure out how big to make your pennants, and cut out the shapes using a ruler and craft knife on a cutting mat. Paint your letters on using the stencils, and use dried, pressed fall leaves as spacers between the words if you want. When you’re done, just fold the tops over a length of twine and staple to fasten. That’s it! I’ll definitely be trying this again some time. :)
