Hi my friends! It sort of blew my mind when I realized recently that I have now written over 100 decorating articles for Houzz. I started with just a single monthly feature, and kept doing a bit more and a bit more until…well, now I contribute 3 ideabooks each week for Houzz, and I will soon be doing Houzz Tours as well – woot!

And while all of this extra writing and creating time is exactly what I want, up until very recently I have had zero child care. None whatsoever. It is the understatement of the year to say it’s been “tricky” to juggle freelance work with full-time child care (Of a two year old! Boy!), let alone make dinner, keep the laundry somewhat clean, and occasionally pick up a book to read half a page before I fall asleep sitting up. The little guy is now going to a toddler program a few mornings a week, and I thank my lucky stars each time I drop him off (where he runs in, by the way – he is so excited about school!) and am able to come back home to a quiet house to get a bit of work done. Needless to say, keeping up with my own blog (this very one you are so kindly reading right now) often gets pushed to the bottom of my to-do list. I am hoping and planning for ways to make frequent posting happen again, and I know I can do it! But it may be a little while yet. So for now I hope you will understand if I am popping in here a little less often than usual – and you can always tide yourself over by reading one of these 118 (and counting) ideabooks, covering topics in everything from decorating and renovating to seasonal and budget decor, green living tips, and ideas for living a more inspired life. Thanks for bearing with me! xoxo Laura

Gorgeous photos from Eclectic Farmhouse. Congratulations on having so much writing work!
So great that you are doing more freelance writing – that was always your goal right? Well done for juggling parenting and work – not an easy feat. I can relate (with two little boys and a third baby on the way). I think the key is to not put too much pressure on yourself – often we can be our worst enemies. Things well get easier though and you will look back feeling proud that you haven’t missed those very precious early years with your little man. Xx Nina
