Hi friends! I’m still recovering from a mean cold, but have decided to go for it this weekend anyway and paint a blackboard wall in Bixby’s new room…yes, his new room! Ben and I are swapping rooms with our little guy, and I couldn’t be more excited. And once he’s in the new room, Bixby will be sleeping in his very own big boy bed! And (drum roll, please) Ben and I will have a bigger room! Don’t ask me why we took the smaller room to begin with; I think the past owners had their bedroom there and we just never gave it a second thought. But this is going to be so much better!! Can you tell I’m a little excited? Ha.
In our new bedroom I am looking forward to having a fresh, clean start and doing a bit of uncluttering as we move our stuff into the new space. One small change I am thinking of making is to add a slim console table behind our bed – sort of similar to the effect of the narrow shelf in the bedroom above (from stylist Alice King via 79 ideas). Every room in our house has radiators taking up precious wall space, so there is very little space for traditional bedside tables. I had finally found some that worked, but I think a console behind the bed would be a more elegant solution, so stay tuned to see if I can make that happen!
And in Bixby’s new room, we are painting one wall with chalkboard paint, which I’ve been dying to do forever – yay! We still need to go thrifting for a small dresser and shelf for toys, and I am searching high and low for fun ideas to finish the wall. I love the felt garland and fall banner DIY above, from Armommy; and I almost certainly will do something like the art on a string from Libbie Grove Design.
So, that’s it for now! I hope you are enjoying a wonderful fall weekend, and I will meet you back here next week…hopefully with a peek at how the rooms are coming along! xoxo Laura
