Unfussy Fall Decorating

Hello my dears! Happy weekend! We are taking off early in the morning for the White Mountains for a family camping trip – hopefully there won’t be a bear encounter this time!! Before I sign off for a few days of unplugged bliss, I wanted to share these inspiring images from Terrain

I think it’s wonderful to change things up around the house and porch seasonally, but I just can’t fathom collecting a ton of “seasonal” decor that only comes out once a year. So, these simple, natural ideas from Terrain suit me to a tee. Gather a pile of tiny, variegated pumpkins in a glass cloche, or line up pumpkins and gourds on the mantel in a range of hues, from pale orange to white and green.

Doesn’t this long table outdoors just make you sigh? :) I love the plaid tablecloth, mason jars, and of course the lanterns and birdcages hung from the tree make it really special! Do you have a path in your front or backyard? Why not try this:

It’s as simple as can be, but I imagine the white pumpkins would look beautiful in the moonlight. Or, if you are feeling a bit more crafty (and have a drill…) you could create your own gourd “banner” with dried gourds of many colors, like the one below.

Sometimes the easiest things are the most beautiful, which is so refreshing. An armful of pumpkins, gourds, and branches all piled into a rough wooden tray looks about perfect to me. What do you think? Do you decorate with the seasons at all? And if so, how far do you take it? Do you prefer a few new candles and tea towels – or are you one of those who decks out the entire house and porch with your collected treasures? I’d love to hear!

I rarely make decorative seasonal changes anymore. I did when my children were growing up, but now enjoy just watching the seasons change when in my yard, or on a walk, or looking out my windows. But I love the Terrain seasonal decor.

Imagine if each white pumpkin on the path had the front cut out and a candle placed inside… time consuming, but would look stunning at night!
