Hello friends! The mood around here has definitely taken a turn towards fall, and I am loving it. I also have managed to catch my first seasonal cold (ick!), so I am really craving some cozy, relaxing time at home, all snuggled up with blankets and squishy knit socks, hot tea and cookies and a great novel. So, when I spied the new fall collection from Toast for house & home, I literally swooned. I’ve chosen some of my favorite shots from their lookbook, along with some of my thoughts on getting cozy at home, layering up your autumn decor, and also some updates from my life because, well, this has been sort of a rough week!
I have to admit, this week (so far) has been a little too exciting for my taste. A raccoon tried to break into our chicken coop (and failed, thank goodness!!), my website has been malfunctioning (nothing you would notice, necessarily, but there have been major problems behind the scenes), and today is Bixby’s very first day of preschool – and his first time being looked after by anyone other than family, so I am a bit of a nervous wreck…but trying not to show it, for his sake! And then of course my head is stuffed up and all I want to do is lie down. Sigh. Luckily, at least the weather at least has been on my side this week – perfect, sunny early Autumn days with puffy white clouds and a hint of crispness to the air.
And you know what I have found to be extremely therapeutic in times of stress? Coming here to spend a bit of time with you all, dear readers and friends. I feel I can always count on my little niche of the virtual community to come through with kind words just when I need them most. So on that note, let’s move on to the delicious & cozy inspiration to be found at Toast, shall we? I am loving the ultra-soft striped flannel sheets, fluffy sheepskins, and hide rugs (even though I admit I’d be too squeamish to use a hide in my own home!) all in a creamy, neutral palette and layered over whitewashed floors and chalky walls. Perhaps also a bit of new pottery in a matte finish, and classic lamps to illuminate the evenings as the sun dips earlier each day would be in order?
Ah, but then there is also slick chestnut colored leather, thick, wooly pillows, oversize art, stacks of books, and the coziest pajamas. I am so looking forward to those first chilly weekend mornings when it feels cool enough to snuggle a bit extra under the covers and pour an extra cup of coffee before really starting the day. Perhaps even sneaking back into bed to read, or lounge around after breakfast playing games in our pjs.
So much to love, am I right? :) What are you craving this Fall, my friends? I would love to hear from you! xoxo Laura

Laura, so sorry you are sick — and having to let go of bixby JUST A LITTLE. You’ll both have fun in different ways after awhile.
Fall sounds so fun! Wish I could experience fall myself. I live in a tropical country, so no such enjoyment for me here!
