New Mood Board: Fancy-Bohemian Kitchen

Happy new week, dearies! I admit I have fallen off the clutter-clearing wagon, and I’ll have to put my Throw Out 50 Things project on hold for another few weeks, I hope you don’t mind. Instead, I have a new mood board to share with you! It began with that beaded and fringed light below, which I immediately thought would be fun in a kitchen. I find that kitchens tend to be a bit neglected, decorating-wise, which is kind of sad because a kitchen has the potential to be just as interesting and comfy as a living room – don’t you think? So, I set out to build a comfy room around that one cool light, with a few different places to sit and relax, and here is where it led me…

I would paint the walls gray and use a crisp geometric rug (can you believe that’s an outdoor rug? Perfect for a kitchen!) on the floor. An intricate tile mosaic backsplash I think would be amazing behind that classic gooseneck faucet, and the seating area would be centered under the beaded chandelier. I would hang the oversize surf art (that photo is 55 inches square!) above a breakfast bar, with a few of those rope-wrapped bar stools tucked underneath, and the petite white lamp tucked onto the counter beside a stack of cookbooks. I tried to balance the bohemian flair with classic, refined elements, and I think the result is a room you can really hang out in, but is also chic enough to entertain.
