Hi friends! Today I have happy homes on the brain. Unabashedly cheerful, colorful, creative, love-filled homes – do you know the kind I mean? Maybe you have a friend with a home like this – or maybe your home is like this? Prints and colors covering all, art everywhere, along with signs of a well-lived life. As I mentioned recently, I am craving more color and pattern in my own home, so I’ve been keeping an eye out for homes to inspire changes of my own.
One such home is artist Kelly Rae Roberts’s house, featured in a tour this week on Design Mom. Are you familiar with Kelly Rae? She is an amazing artist, author, teacher, and writes a popular blog as well. She’s a busy lady! Oh, and she is a Mama. I just love her home – the colors and artwork blew me away. Take this nook above, for example. It’s in their renovated attic bedroom, and the walls are painted this amazing shade of blue, the vintage dresser, vibrant print chair, tangerine rug, and large painting add up to one happy corner. Wouldn’t you love to curl up here with a great book?
I have my eye on all of the wall colors in Kelly Rae’s home, in fact. I’m loving the soft dove gray and all of the luminous blues. And who wouldn’t love a crystal chandy in the dining room? Right? Yes, yes, so many things to love here. What is catching your eye in Kelly Rae’s home?
Oh my, oh my, and then there is dear Melissa’s home, also featured on Design Mom (with photos by Marichelle). I am being completely honest when I say I squealed with delight when I saw this. Art is everywhere. Everywhere! If you read Melissa’s blog (which you should, of course) you know she has the best eye for Etsy finds and it shows all over the place. There are tons of ideas in Melissa’s house for creative ways to display children’s art, which I love. And again with the wall colors! Can you tell I am dying to paint my house? ;)
Ooh, and did I mention all of the burlap? I think, Melis, you just inspired me to go pick up a roll the next time I’m at the garden store and cover a few big bulletin boards! Oh yes.
Just a few more snippets to share, this one is from Carolyn Gavin’s home tour on Design Sponge. How great is that chalkboard base to a kitchen island? Love the giant piece of art just visible around the bend in the dining room, too.
And last but certainly not least, I fell for this garden nook from Jared Frank and Sam Jacober of Topsy Design, featured on Design Sponge. Amazing, right? I think it’s a great idea to scavenge for cool furniture at flea markets – even (or especially?) pieces like these that may not have been intended to be used outdoors just look all the more magical. And the patina of weathered wood and metal adds so much character. And come on, who can resist a hammock? With tassels, for crying out loud.
I really hope you have enjoyed the homes I chose to share today. Are you feeling the love? I’m hoping to translate some of the happy, optimistic vibe of these spaces into my own home this year – fresh wall color (perhaps), new artwork (hopefully) and a few burlap-covered boards (for sure). Have a great day, my dears! xo Laura
