Creative + Crafty Ideas for Valentine’s Day

Happy Valentine’s Day, my sweets! On this day I always remember my Grandpa, because each year when I was a kid he would sneak into our house early on Valentine’s morning, leaving red raspberry pastries and cards for me and my Mom. I can understand how some might not get too excited about this day, but to me it is a reason to give yourself a little treat and be extra nice, especially to any little ones in your life. :)

If you are planning a special dinner at home (I almost always prefer this over a crowded restaurant), why not steal a few tips from lovely Nina Holst’s table setting, seen above and below. A simple kraft paper envelope paired with a butterfly-stamped card and floral clothespin makes a delightful Valentine.

Everyday white dishes and basic glassware get a lift from a pink runner (you can always use pink wrapping paper), branches in a vase, and scrabble tiles spelling out a message. I adore those little tree stump salt & pepper shakers too, don’t you?

If you are feeling more ambitious, I love this party decorating DIY from Holly Becker. Paper umbrellas look magical suspended over a table and hung with streamers and stamped tag embellishments.

I also had fun browsing German Funkytime Magazine; some of my favorite ideas & projects from the issue are gathered above: heart-shaped marshmallows, Nutella toast, and sewn fabric hearts are all fairly easy to pull off. What about you? Any special plans for your day? I’d love to hear! xoxo Laura
