Are you ready to do a little real estate window shopping in Sweden? Oh goodie, me too! It is a dream of mine to be able to spend at least six months to a year living in another country, and Sweden is definitely on my top 5 list of dream destinations – even if I never live there, I am definitely planning to visit. I love Swedish style, and the architectural details in some of the homes are just jaw-droppingly gorgeous. Lets go on a few home tours, courtesy of Swedish real estate company Bolaget, right this way…
I love that fireplace, it seems that they are fairly common in Europe, from Sweden to Germany – but they have nothing like this here in the States, so it really stands out to me. Some are painted, like this one, while others are tiled or simple white.
The Swedish seem to have really figured out how to maximize light in the home, which I love – all the better to help cope with those long Swedish winters! And many of the homes for sale through Bolaget are furnished with clean Scandinavian Modern designs, drool drool drool.
Above I singled out a few other details that I find to be common throughout Europe: small yet fancy crystal chandeliers, gilded mirrors, matte-gray painted furniture, tassels as accents on drawer pulls or door knobs, and intricate ceiling medallions. I would love to bring a few of these ideas back Stateside…
…perhaps by painting my living/dining room cabinet (seen above) matte gray? This reminds me, Holly did a fun European trends post that I think you would enjoy if you didn’t catch it yet, read that here.
What do you think? Are you a fan of Swedish style? What do you think of when you think of the Swedish “look” or the Euro decorating styles in general? Are there any trends you would like to adopt in your own home?

I do like the Swedish look, though sometimes as much as I love white, it’s a little too much white for me. I definitely want to adopt some Euro style into my home with white Tolix chairs. I love how they look mixed with a rustic farm table.
Lia – I am pining for a set of Tolix chairs too! :)
It’s all sooo pretty. I love Swedish style but I can’t have it—my mister thinks it’s too “plain” :( I guess I’ll just have to settle for photos!
Erin´s last [type] ..Sundrop surprise
Erin – Too bad! I myself am having to ease off the white a bit due to child-related mess complications! Ha ha :) xo Laura
