Happy Weekend!

in The Sweet Life

Will you be celebrating Halloween this weekend? I am so excited to dress up Bixby in a costume for the first time (I will share pics next week, promise!) and bring him over to Grandma and Grandpa’s house. If you are lagging on the Halloween decor front, I really like this paint pen pumpkin idea from the Papernstitch Blog, as seen on Creature Comforts – I am thinking a few of these would look cool clustered on a windowsill. Whatever your plans are, I hope you have a splendid time!

All of a sudden, he seems like a little boy instead of a bitty baby. How did that happen? We love you so, Bixby James! xo Mama & Daddy

(I will be taking a photo of Bixby in the white armchair with his lambie each month until his second birthday)

So far… One Month Old :: Two Months Old :: Three Months Old

Good morning! How are you doing out there? How has your week been treating you? I have been having a very busy week, between my baby beginning to teethe and a logo redesign assignment I am working on for my class. It is so nice to be able to take a few moments away to spend here because I really treasure my blogging time! I came across this jewelry shop recently and was really impressed by the raw beauty of the pieces, I hope you like it too :)

Specimental is a gorgeous line of jewelry made by Laura Treloar – who also happens to be a high school Art teacher and mama to three little boys! That feather necklace above made my jaw drop. Want to see more?

Such gorgeousness! I love the natural materials and rich colors she uses; each piece feels like a little bit of found treasure.

I just love finding interior designers whose work feels accessible, personal, and fun – don’t you? If so, I think you will enjoy digging into the online portfolio of design firm From the Desk of Lola:

I could picture myself moving right into this bedroom, for example. That nubbly Moroccan coverlet, fluffy sheepskin, chunky little stool and original art play together so nicely ;)

And while the first room was more me, I also admire the creativity that went into this vibrant bedroom – including the accent wall, which made me smile because it reminds me of my Mom putting pyramids over the kids’ beds back in the 70′s…Pyramid Power! :)

Finally, this space was one of my favorites among the From the Desk of Lola projects. It just feels so L.A. to me, and in a very good way! Bright and sunny, with a casual come-over-and-hang-out-all-afternoon kind of vibe.

Okay, I’m off to have a rainy-day lunch date with my sweetie and little B. Enjoy the rest of your Wednesday!!

Are you thinking about purchasing your calendar for next year yet? I always like to buy several: one for my kitchen wall, another for my desk, and a third to tuck inside my bag. Here are five I have my eye on:

1. For something a little different, I love the calendar pillow from Vana Chupp of Le Papier Studio. I like this one from her shop, too – silhouettes would be a fun choice, don’t you think? (Vana did write the book on silhouette art, after all!)

2. Have you seen the Cats Let Nothing Darken Their Roar calendar before? It’s in it’s sixth year, but it’s new to me!

3. I love the art and the nice, deep impressions on this letterpress calendar from Sycamore Street Press.

4. The hooray hands desk calendar from Curious Doodles feels very inspiring to me, and the jewel case it comes in is perfect for propping up on your desk.

5. Act quickly if you want one of these beautiful calendars from Creative Thursday because she is only printing 100!

What do you think? Do you have any favorites you would like to add? Feel free to add a link in the comments section and then we can all shop around! :)
