This garden design by Sasha Tarnopolsky of L.A.-based DRY Design has really captured my imagination! We have a pretty typical backyard – i.e., a big swath of lawn surrounded by a thin border of random perennials. There is nothing wrong with this, per se, it just doesn’t make the most sense for our lifestyle. Now this, on the other hand, I could live with:
I love the energy of this space! Lawn and concrete pavers create plenty of room for running around and define two distinct zones for outdoor dinners and hanging out. The plants are drought-friendly, which makes for easy watering. And how awesome is that pebble fountain built right into a planting bed? This is definitely going into my dream file – maybe within the next two years we will be able to tackle a project like this? What do you think?
BTW: These images originally ran in a story in Domino Magazine – which is now available on Brides.com

I absolutely love this backyard. The use of different textures is really part of the magic.
I totally remember this article! In fact I think I saved it too. I love that it looks great, but seems really user friendly– ie fun to hang out in, with minimal upkeep.
Aaand I NO idea that domino was on Brides.com! Thanks!
