Oh my goodness, the weather and light were not cooperating with me today! It has been dreary and dark here all day long, but I was finally able to take a few halfway-decent pictures to share with you for now :) As I mentioned, last weekend Benny and I painted our basement on Saturday…and then on Sunday B’s sister and Dad came over and helped paint our kitchen! Let’s see if you recall the color it was before:
Now, while I have nothing against this color, it just wasn’t doing it for me. I wanted something that would tie in the colors of the granite counters, and look crisp with the white trim. After testing dozens of colors we settled on Quahog from C2 Paint, which is a warm, putty-like gray. Would you like to see how it turned out?
I love it. It is very easy to live with, not too cool or too warm, but just right ;) And do you see the picture hanging on the wall in the stairwell above? That is an elevation and floor plan of our house that my soon-to-be brother in-law made for us this Christmas (he’s an architect), and I think the gray makes a perfect backdrop for it! Yay! Now I would just like to swap out a few small items like dish towels and add an art print, a small chalkboard, and potted herbs in the windowsill.
What do you think? What would you go with as an accent color in this kitchen? And would you change the drawer pulls and things, or leave it as is? Do tell!

I loooove it.
I love it, I love it, I love it! It is absolutely a gorgeous shade of grey Laura! Perfect and I may have to steal it from you someday, if that is ok! :) Did your ring come today? Should come soon! :)

So glad you like it! And yes – the ring did come and it is GORGEOUS! Thank you!!
Lovely colour! I think that some white details would help the walls. For example, the two light pictures on the walls look perfect on them!
Good choices Lolalina!

looks awesome! grey is the best wall color, in my humble opinion :]
your place looks cozy — it would look great with some plants (maybe home-grown herbs??) & some chalkboard details! you could change out the drawer pulls to make it more special, but they look good they way they are too. great job!
Pretty! I love all the new color choices you’ve done. I would have picked exactly the same ones:)

I love it, it feels very calming and peaceful so hopefully you will be calm when trying to cook when baby is crying! The dish towels look really good, great colour aubergine to pair with grey x
Hi Laura, I’ve been reading your blog since BYW, but this is my first comment! I love your kitchen! The color is perfect, and would go with many accent colors. I actually like the purple you have now, but I think yellow would look so sweet!
SOOO lovely….the purple accents are to die for!!!
it looks wonderful! grey is one of my absolute faves for wall color – it just looks so great in any room, very stylish. love the white trim with the grey. i think once you add some potted herbs it’ll make it even cozier and give you a pop of color. y0u did such a great job…wow!!

Lovely, warm, elegant, and harmonious.I like the pulls and knobs. You made a good selection with the color. I just popped over from decor8 so I am not familiar with your blog…I am curious as to where you live. Are you in the Northern latitudes or Southern ??I am wondering how this color is in bright sunny California?
Best,
Shay
Thanks for stopping by, Shay! I live in Providence, RI (in the Northeast), but personally I think this gray would work equally well in CA (where I am from originally)!
I would never have thought that I would like the gray, but I LOVE it! It is so soothing and is gorgeous with that punch of purple in your towels! Thanks so much for sharing!

Hi Laura! found you via Decor8…the gray looks really sophisticated and serene – a nice change from the Persimmon. Its funny, where I work they have repainted the walls a gray that I really like and asked the painter what it was…it is Sherwin Williams’ ‘Cape Hatteras’ – I have been intrigued by gray and am wondering if I could live with it. After seeing the Sherwin Williams color and your kitchen, I’m really digging it!! It looks great! I love your blog too…I will be moving house this summer and can’t wait to redecorate a whole new space!

This looks amazing! We accented our grey with green apple & soft golden yellows. Lavendar also goes really well with grey. :0)
Looks great and an instant update! Inspirational.
