Sweet Obsessions Friday

in Sweet Obsessions

Well, hello there Friday! Are you as ready for the weekend as I am? I’ve had a rather exhausting week for a number of reasons, and I am looking forward to carving out some solid relaxation time. I will be busy as well, but I think it is so important to make the time for those little rituals that feed your soul and maintain balance in your life – do you know what I mean? So over the weekend in addition to building a crib, listing items for sale on Craigslist, buying paint, and attending birth class, I will also be taking a nice, long bath, hanging out at a café reading magazines, puttering around in the garden, and making a few nice dinners with my sweetie. Or maybe going out for crepes and tea here. But before I go, I have seven wonderful things to share with you – from a chic terrace to a soothing blue bedroom to gorgeous handmade jewelry and vases – and even a mod cat bed. Ready? Let’s go!

1. I love this lady’s style. Alison is a wardrobe stylist, and she was photographed here on the Portland street style site Urban Weeds. Cute haircut, too!

2. Have you ever seen Ikea furniture looking so luxe? I have not. This summer house in Spain was featured on The Style Files, and I so wish I could beam myself there right now!

3. Sara Paloma’s bone vase looks so delicate and organic, I think it would be just as striking even without flowers in it.

4. I am a longtime fan of Up In The Air Somewhere, and their new paper maché bowl in aqua is begging me to take it home. Or maybe I need two. They would be beautiful holding a few special pieces of jewelry, don’t you think? I am remembering how my Mom used to keep her special rings in a bowl of sea salt, and that would be lovely here too, with rings poking out of the salt like little treasures on a white sand beach.

5. These two images come from the North Carolina home of Michelle Smith, featured in this sneak peek on Design*Sponge – the paint color she chose for her nursery & bedroom is similar to the one I will be using, so I loved soaking in the ideas from Michelle’s home.

6. Joanna Rutter’s Hello necklace has been on my wish list for a while now, but at $130, I haven’t quite been able to rationalize buying it. But then – ta da! Today I was checking in with her shop, and there was this adorable little Hi necklace (pictured above) for only $38! And how cute is that? I do not have pierced ears, but if I did I would also be sorely tempted to scoop up a pair of these Teeny Rainy Day Studs – perfect for April showers :)

7. And finally, after coming home one day to find my dear cat Ziggy like this, I am thinking maybe it is time to invest in an actual cat bed? Of course, knowing cats, he probably wouldn’t give it the time of day, but I do love this one in turquoise olive checks from Like Kittysville.

So that is all for now! What are you up to this weekend? Do you have anything fun planned? Have any films or books or music to recommend? I love getting new ideas for things to do on the weekend :) I hope that no matter what else you have going on, you are able to make a little time for yourself, to do something creative, see a film, take a picnic to the park if it’s sunny, visit a museum or gallery you have been meaning to see, or just take a little extra time in the morning with your coffee or tea! Promise to make a little time for fun? I will! Oh, and you should watch this tonight!

ooh so fun. Have you been to “The Snuggery” yet? I keep meaning to… it looks so sweet.
And I too, love those cat beds. Unfortunately, I’m pretty sure I’d be way more excited about them than my kitties would…ah well.
