Inspiration Assignment

in Blogs, Mood Boards

Happy Monday to you! Today I would like to share a fun little assignment that was part of the e-course I am taking. I really enjoyed it, and after hearing about it maybe you will be inspired to take a little break and do one of your own! For each of the photos below, remember you can always click on the image to see it full-size. Okay, here we go!

I created a little inspiration board on the inside of a file folder, the purpose being to bring focus to what I want my blog to be. The look and feel, yes, but even more so I focused on the sort of content and general direction I want to go in. As you can see from the large “draw it yourself” in the center of the folder, one of my major goals for this blog as I move forward is to introduce more original content – be it drawings, original photography, documenting my home decorating projects, travels, design classes, etc.

In this close-up view of the upper right corner, I chose a few images to represent creative spaces and studios, which I would like to feature more of here on Lolalina…and to serve as inspiration for my own workspace! And la tour eiffel is there to reflect my passion for travel :)

I chose this image of a steaming cup of tea and the words “heartfelt & handmade” to remind  myself that the little things are often most important, and that what I want most for this blog is that it continues to come from an authentic place in my heart.

And there is my little owl business card! I stuck one onto my collage because although I adore my cards (from here, by the way, and very reasonably priced!) I have yet to give away very many of them! Circling back to my intention to collaborate this year, I would like to get out there and meet fellow bloggers in person, attend events that sound interesting, and generally put myself in more situations where I will have an opportunity to give away those cute little cards – having a big stack of them sitting in my desk drawer isn’t doing me any good! And the image below my card (from a Kate Spade ad) sums up the open, spontaneous attitude that I would love to cultivate!

If you would like to create your own mini-inspiration board too, I would love to see it! Feel free to link to an image on your blog, flickr, etc. if you have something you would like to share!

Aw, how fun! I love your card too, simple and sweet…. you took the first course though right? I thought we couldn’t take the 2nd one as well? I must have misread something, lol… I would have taken the 2nd course too! It was so much fun.

Daniella – I did take the first course, and you didn’t misunderstand! Holly posted on decor8 that those of us who took BYW the first time could not sign up this time, but later decided that we *could* sign up a second time (she shared that on the BYW Friends group, not on decor8) – hopefully she will decide to do a “part 2″ class, because I know that most of those from our group did not sign up a second time!

Lovely! Such wonderful goals and purpose. This would be a great exercise for any of us who blog with business in mind :) Several of my goals would be similar.

I’m still digesting the info from BYW the first time around so I don’t think I was ready for it the second time!

I’m so glad for a sick day today! It’s allowed me to take a break from my own designing world and find inspiring, talented, authentic women like you! Don’t even know how I got here, but glad I did! I love your inspiration board and am inspired to make one of my own…maybe for my blog/business, but mostly for just me. Thanks for sharing!
Blessings,
Linsey

So happy to see Julieann here. I loved that you are sharing your hopes and process on hot to blog your way to your heart’s passion. I too talked out loud about how and where I want my blog to go. It will always change so don’t nail it down.

Oh, and please, if you have the means do share your creative content. There are a lot of blogs out there, but not many who go as far to share the depth of their talents!

Your inpsiration board is so beautiful. I love inspiration boards and seeing what inspires others and how they put it all together. I’m so glad you shared it here and what it all means to you. I don’t remember that we did one of these in the first BYW class. I wish I would have known I could join for a second time too. I think I was too shy to share much in the first class, since I had just started my blog the first day class started and I never did join the BYW friends group. This is such a good idea to put together as a base of what you want your blog to be. I’m keeping this in mind. I think I might want to make one too.

Hello! I am also in the BYW class and have been following your blog for a little while now! I love your inspiration board. I am in the same situation you are, I really want to make an effor to create more unique content…I already feel like the class is helping me to come up with my own ideas and I can see an improvement in my own blog. I love your blog, I’ve only been reading for a short time but I really enjoy your posts! Oh, and your business cards are so cute!
