Yippee! Friday is here, and while I did have to spend the morning with the lovely people of the Department of Motor Vehicles renewing my license, my honey also treated me to a croissant from our favorite local bakery – which turned it into a nice morning after all :) Over the weekend I will be going here to scope out some mid century modern vintage, reading this landscaping book (which is fantastic so far, btw) and dreaming of summer, and then hopefully picking up frames for some of the Etsy art I have been wanting to put up! What is going on in your part of the world? Will you be out and about over the weekend or taking it easy at home? Wherever you are at this moment, I hope you can take a teensy time-out to sit back in a cozy chair and meander through some of my favorite inspirations from the week…
1. I have summer on the brain! Is that terrible? Not just spring, oh no, that’s not good enough – I want full on sundresses-at-the-beach, tropical fruit, blazing sunshine, hammocks-and-iced tea, s u m m e r. And the photo above (top) from the sartorialist gets the summer spirit I am craving exactly right. Oh yes, and a lovely, floaty dress like the one above would be just the thing to wear while eating iced grapes beside the seaside on a Grecian island, don’t you agree?
2. I am very much smitten with the watercolor paintings of Jamie Shelman – one of his wildflower prints would offer a nice, organic contrast to some of the more graphic design-oriented artwork that is so prevalent today. And it’s probably no coincidence this print is titled summer wildflowers – I see a theme here, sorry about that! I think I need a tropical vacation!!!
3. I take that back. I don’t need the tropics – this wild party in the desert would do just fine! I spied pics of this rad where the wild things are bachelorette party on 100 Layer Cake, and I am just in awe. Why didn’t I think of this when I was getting married??
4. I really enjoyed reading this post on the Style Files about Australian stylist Sibella Court – lots more dreamy images full of natural textures and colors where these came from, right here.
5. This beautiful ribbon rose ring by White Fly really has me captivated – oh dear, but then the delicate bow bracelet and vintage scalloped lace cuff are calling to me as well!
6. Let me introduce you to two items I wish were by my bedside right now: this gorgeously crafty-looking earthenware lamp from perch ceramics, and this too-cute M is for Magazine magazine file from paperdoll woodshop.
7. And finally, doesn’t Yvonne’s study look amazing?? That color pink is perfection, and it looks even better with the clean white floors and ceiling. Also, I’ve nursed a little obsession for that print since it made the cover of domino way back in ’06…maybe it’s time to get one?
Oh, and did you see? I’ve added a new little gizmo to the end of each post – it looks like this, only it’s at the very bottom of the post:
When you mouse over it, a cute little box will pop up, allowing you to do all sorts of neat things like email this post to a friend, share it on Facebook, Twitter, etc., etc. I’ve appreciated this feature on other blogs, so I hope you’ll find it useful, too! P.S., if you’re reading this in a feed reader or via email, you need to actually click on the button rather than just mouse over it. I guess that’s all for now! I really do hope you have a lovely weekend,

How did I miss that awesome desert party!! What a fabulous idea. I’ve never been one for the bar hopping, and an out-of-this world picnic like that would be so much fun… have a great weekend!
Love the teepee “no boys allowed” picture, and I couldn’t help but notice the black casserole dish – fabulous!
Hi Laura, I’ve had a pretty busy week, so I’m sitting on the sofa today, reading a book, watching a movie and perusing google on my laptop. A few of your obessions have caught my eye here. I love the rose ring, the stylist and best of all the M is for Magazine file because it can be M is for Melissa too.

Hello,
Just found your lovely blog!
I long for summer sooo badly. I live in the north of Sweden and it’s been – 33F, much warmer now but an incredible amount of snow outside.
This weekend I will… Draw, work on my photographs, have chocolate coffee with a friend. Work, blog, work and work. I love to work. Oh, and I’m a photographer / mixed media artist writer type of character.
That sounds like a lovely weekend! :)
