In exactly 46 days I will be moving into my first home, not that I’m counting or anything. The only good thing I can think of about having a long escrow is the ample time we have to play around with ideas for paint colors, furniture arrangements and improvements we would like to tackle. One of the rooms giving me the most trouble during this planning phase is the second bedroom: because this room has it’s work cut out for it! It must function as an office for me during the day, be comfy enough to watch the occasional movie on the computer in the evenings, act as an overflow wardrobe and welcome overnight guests. Whew! But no worries. I feel like I hit the jackpot when I came across this photo by the amazingly talented interior stylist Lucyina Moodie:
I love everything about this: the adorable pillows, the fresh, cheerful mix of color & pattern, the painted floors – but what I love most is how she turned a simple twin bed into a really inviting daybed. Perfect for reading, napping and watching movies, and it can accommodate that one extra guest (we will have a bigger guest area in the basement, too), while still leaving plenty of room for my desk and a dresser. Hooray!

I’d be excited to buy a home, too! It’s out-of-control expensive here in L.A., though, so my dreams will be put on hold a little longer. Can’t wait to see pics as you fix your place up. :-)
