Happy weekend everyone! I am signing off a bit early today so I can get started on some much needed organizing in preparation for the move (!!) which I can hardly believe is coming up so soon. But before I go, I want to leave you with some gorgeous photos and fun links that have been inspiring me this week, so enjoy!!

I absolutely adore all of your comments on pink walls, I feel so encouraged and excited! Are you ready for more pink? Today I have rounded up a collection of photos (all are from Living Etc.) of gorgeous rooms using pink as an accent color, which – oh, just shoot me – I also love! But can I have soft pink walls and pink accents in the same room? What if the walls are just the faintest hint of pink? Oh dear. Well, let’s look at the photos and then I would love it if you would weigh in with your thoughts at the end. Only 30 days to go till we move into our first house!!!

This is one of my favorite spaces – the black and white feels very crisp, but the little bits of pink and deep raspberry are just enough to make it feel feminine and inviting. And oh my goodness, what I wouldn’t give to have a giant etched mirror like the one propped against their wall! Gorgeous!!

I am really drawn to modern Moroccan/Indian rooms like the one above: white and silver, rosy pink and deep fuchsia, exotic treasures collected from around the world… Somehow I don’t think my main living space will end up looking like this! But one day, I would love to have a little room like this with white floors and gorgeous light, where I can sip tea and listen to music.

Okay, so this room is a little much. I know. A chartreuse table with milk chocolate brown walls and a raspberry chair? I probably wouldn’t do that in real life, but I wanted an example of pink living with darker, more saturated colors. I would like to turn the second bedroom in our new house (which is off the living/dining area) into a salon-style office, and I’m looking for a nice rich paint color that will look good with lots of art hung on the walls. Ideally, I could bring a few berry-pink accents into the room as well, to connect it with the living room.

Berry, magenta, fuchsia, mm… I do love those strong pinks as accents; but I don’t want to OD on pink! So, what do you think: yea or nay on the pink accents? Is it possible to use deeper pink accents in a room with pale pink walls? What other colors would you use? I would love to hear from you!

And p.s., there may just be a third part to this mini-series next week, about pairing pink with other colors: Thinking Pink, Part 3: Palettes; so stay tuned for that!

It’s been hot and muggy here all day, so I am dreaming of frosty blues, crisp whites and bare woods – and maybe just a little sweet treat…

Do you cycle? I don’t currently own a bicycle, but I am dying to get my hands on a comfy classic like this one to ride on little errands instead of taking the car, as well as down country lanes on the weekends. If you think cycling has to be a slightly embarrassing experience involving Lycra, reflective stripes and an egg-shaped helmet, you must run over to the London Cycle Chic blog and online shop, where founder Kaz Nicklin will surely convince you otherwise.

The Cycle Chic shop is stocked with gorgeous vintage-inspired satchels, baskets and panniers, amazing helmets with covers that look like hats, riding capes, tartan box bags, classic bells and of course, very chic bicycles. I am not sure of postage rates, but they do ship internationally – good to know if you have your heart set on one of their fancy bike baskets. (ahem. not that I do…)

The London Cycle Chic blog is packed with cycling street style and hilarious words of advice, such as this comment on wearing swishy skirts while cycling:

“Not only are they glamorous and feminine but they’re comfortable and cooling to cycle in, perfect for the spring and summer. To protect your modesty should a sudden gust of wind blow your skirt up a little too far wear hotpant style shorts or even 3/4 length leggings underneath.”

I just came across mixed media artist Shyama Helin through her Etsy shop, and I am completely charmed. This UC Santa Cruz fine arts grad now living in Portland, Oregon, uses collage, painting, and transfer techniques to create her romantic pieces inspired by bygone eras. Let’s have a look:

Shyama often uses vintage postcards as backdrops for the characters she creates; I love how each one tells a little story. And I adore the detail she puts into the outfits – the billowing 50′s style dress, the dandy in his striped suit, the mysterious, chic lady in the red coat and cloche cap – lovely! A row of these sweet paintings would look just right propped on a shelf together with a bit of vintage ephemera strewn about.
